CAF is set to unveil a new trophy for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON, on Wednesday, as reported by DAILY POST.
The unveiling will take place in Morocco, the host nation for this year’s edition of the biennial tournament.
CAF president, Patrice Motsepe, has repeatedly pledged to enhance women’s football across Africa.
The launch of the trophy aligns with Motsepe’s vision to promote the sport on the continent.
Nigeria’s Super Falcons have won the previous trophy nine times, Equatorial Guinea has secured it twice, while the current champions, Banyana Banyana from South Africa, have won it once.
The WAFCON 2024 finals are scheduled to occur in Morocco from Saturday, July 5, to Saturday, July 26.
The tournament will kick off with a match between the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco and the Copper Queens of Zambia on Saturday.
