300-year-old Unique Violin Will Appear at UK Music Festival
One of the most esteemed violins globally, created three centuries ago and previously owned by composer Niccolo Paganini, is set to be performed at a prestigious classical music festival in the UK.
The violin, referred to as the Carrodus, is among approximately 150 instruments crafted by Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesu that are known to have survived through the ages. It was purchased by a philanthropic organization for $20 million in June.
This instrument was made in 1743 in Cremona, northern Italy, and will be played for the first time during the BBC Proms by South Korean violinist Inmo Yang.
The violin, once in the possession of the Italian virtuoso Paganini, will be showcased on August 28 at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
“I can hardly believe my fortune in having this instrument. It is undoubtedly one of the finest instruments ever created,” Yang, who is also making his debut at the Proms, expressed to AFP.
“I feel a responsibility to care for this instrument and produce a beautiful sound so that audiences understand the value of playing these instruments rather than keeping them locked away in a museum vault.”
The Stretton Society, a collective of philanthropists, patrons, and sponsors that has lent the violin to Yang, aims to acquire rare and valuable instruments to lend to the world’s foremost musicians.
Guarneri is recognized as one of the most significant violin makers in history, alongside the Italian luthier Antonio Stradivari, according to the society’s co-founder, Stephan Jansen.
While Stradivari crafted instruments for the Church and nobility, Guarneri’s violins were designed for musicians, gaining fame for their rich and resonant tones, Jansen noted.
“Inmo is among the finest musicians of his generation,” Jansen remarked to AFP.
“When he visited my home and I presented him with the fiddle, it was evident from the very first moment that this was a perfect match,” he stated. “Ultimately, it’s also about chemistry, you know?”
Yang is set to perform Pablo de Sarasate’s “Carmen Fantasy,” which he characterized as “a virtuoso piece for the violin.”
The extensive range of the violin contributes to the “strong, at times flirty character of the piece.”
The sound produced by the instrument is described as "rather unpredictable," he remarked, and "this somewhat whimsical quality truly adds more vibrancy to the composition."
"The notion that Paganini utilized this instrument feels somewhat spiritual, and I believe that audiences desire to experience Paganini's music performed on his own violin," Yang further commented.

FULL LIST: At the 17th Headies Awards, Davido, the late Mohbad, and Others Shine.
The 17th edition of the esteemed Headies Awards, themed 'Back to Base', took place on Sunday at the Landmark Event Centre in Lekki, signifying a vibrant return to Nigeria after a two-year hiatus abroad. The event was hosted by the charismatic duo of actress and media personality Nancy Isime alongside veteran broadcaster IK Osakioduwa, who infused the stage with their charm, humor, and energy. This occasion was dedicated to honoring exceptional achievements within the Nigerian and African music sectors, acknowledging artists, producers, and creatives who have made significant contributions over the past year. The evening was further enhanced by electrifying performances from some of the continent's most talented stars, including Qing Madi, L.A.X, Odumodublvck, Kcee, Shallipopi, Flavour, Juma Jux, Nasboi, Magnito, and others. Tanzanian artist Juma Jux had a remarkable evening, winning the award for Best East African Artiste of the Year, surpassing other distinguished nominees such as Bien (Kenya), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), Bruce Melodie (Rwanda), and Azawi (Uganda).
He also captivated the audience with an engaging live performance. One of the most poignant moments of the night was the presentation of the Special Recognition Award to Kcee, honoring his lasting contributions to the Nigerian music scene, his cultural influence, and his impressive artistic journey over the past 26 years. In a deeply touching moment, the late Mohbad was posthumously awarded the Best Street-Hop Artiste award for his hit single 'Ask About Me.' His family, including his wife and young son Liam, accepted the award on his behalf, receiving a standing ovation from the audience. The ceremony also included a heartfelt tribute, celebrating Mohbad's significant impact on the music industry and the legacy he has left behind.
In addition to his victory, Mohbad received several posthumous nominations, including Best Collaboration for 'Egwu' alongside Chike and Afrobeats Single of the Year for the same song. These nominations and his posthumous acknowledgment highlight the lasting impact of his music and the significant gap his departure has created in the industry. There was a minor incident when the event organizers subtly asked Odumodublvck, the winner of the Next Rated Category, to vacate the stage while he was delivering an extended speech after receiving his award. The acclaimed rapper, who had taken the stage with his mother and a group of friends and record label associates, firmly refused to leave until the organizers eventually activated his microphone, which had been turned off, allowing him to complete his speech.

Kirikiri Baale Explains How Bobrisky Paid N35 Million to Live Comfortably After Smuggling ATMs into Kirikiri.
The Baale of Kirikiri Town, Chief Babalola Shabi, commonly referred to as “Baale No-Nonsense,” has accused officials from the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) of facilitating preferential treatment for the controversial crossdresser Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, during his imprisonment for Naira abuse.
The Lagos traditional leader claimed that Bobrisky managed to smuggle eight Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards into the Kirikiri custodial facility, using them to conduct transactions totaling N35 million through Point of Sale (POS) operators in the vicinity, allegedly to bribe prison staff for special privileges.
Shabi made these allegations at a town hall meeting hosted by the Lagos State Police Command on Saturday, April 5, as part of the National Police Week celebrations.
He asserted that Bobrisky did not serve his full sentence in prison but was instead accommodated in a private residence outside the custodial facility, allegedly arranged by corrupt correctional officials.
He stated, “Before the truth emerged, many believed he was serving his time in Kirikiri. However, the reality is that Bobrisky was living comfortably outside the prison, facilitated by a criminal conspiracy involving certain officials.”
Shabi noted that it was his intervention that brought the scandal to light, explaining that he had summoned all POS operators in the community to his palace, which led to the involvement of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
“I personally contacted the EFCC after gathering the POS operators at my palace. From that point, they were able to trace the transactions and uncover the financial trail,” he remarked.
The traditional leader elaborated that the scheme involved correctional officers soliciting POS vendors to withdraw cash from the crossdresser’s ATM cards.
He emphasized that the ease with which the funds were accessed suggested a well-coordinated network of accomplices.
It was astonishing how N35 million could be raised from this area in such a short time. It is evident that this was not the effort of a single individual. The officials who assisted him have since been suspended, Shabi remarked.
He went on to claim that the location where Bobrisky was reportedly held during that time has been located and subsequently demolished, and that both the Department of State Services and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have questioned him regarding the matter.
“The DSS initially summoned me for an interview, and I provided them with all the information I had. The EFCC also contacted me, and I fully cooperated with them. As a leader in the community, I cannot permit this kind of impunity to persist,” he stated.
His testimony stands in contrast to an earlier report issued by a National Assembly panel, which concluded that Bobrisky received special treatment while remaining within the prison facilities for the duration of his sentence.

Amidst the Divorce Drama, Singer Tuface Pops the Question to Edo Lawmaker Natasha Osawaru.
In the midst of his ongoing divorce proceedings, musician Innocent Idibia, widely recognized as Tuface (2baba), has made a marriage proposal to Natasha Osawaru, a 31-year-old representative in the Edo State House of Assembly.
A video that gained significant attention on Thursday showcased Tuface and Osawaru dancing together. Following their dance, he presented her with a ring, culminating in a heartfelt embrace.
This announcement comes merely a day after Tuface publicly acknowledged his romantic involvement with Osawaru, which has generated considerable buzz on social media.
This development follows his recent separation from his wife of thirteen years, Annie Idibia, as Tuface has expressed a desire to advance his relationship with Osawaru.
Speculation regarding their connection had been mounting after Tuface was spotted at the Edo State Assembly, and a video emerged of the two enjoying themselves at a club in Lagos.
In response to the swirling rumors, 2Baba took to Instagram on Tuesday to clarify the situation.
In the video, he stated, “I have seen numerous false narratives and malicious claims following my recent post. Yes, I shared what I did.
“Hon. Natasha has faced unwarranted criticism and has been unjustly labeled as a homewrecker.
“She is an exceptional young woman who is not involved in the issues between Annie and me.
“Yes, I love her; she is wonderful, and I wish to marry her.”

Amid the House of Representatives' Summons, Bobrisky was Reportedly Arrested While Escaping to the Benin Republic.
Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okunleye, widely recognized as Bobrisky, was reportedly apprehended on Monday morning while allegedly attempting to flee to the Benin Republic.
Social media influencer Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, announced on his social media platform that Bobrisky had been taken into custody.
According to a source within the Immigration Service, Bobrisky was detained by the agency at the Seme-Nigerian border during a routine passport inspection.
This incident occurred mere hours before he was set to appear before a Senate panel of inquiry concerning various allegations against him.
There are ongoing speculations suggesting that Bobrisky was attempting to avoid questioning by the Senate.
Attempts to contact Kenneth Udo, the spokesperson for the Nigerian Immigration Service, for confirmation were unsuccessful.
In September, Trustbase News reported that the House of Representatives had summoned the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS), Bobrisky, and VeryDarkMan.
The Joint Committees of the House decided to investigate claims stemming from a viral social media voice recording, in which Bobrisky purportedly admitted to paying N15 million to EFCC officials to have money laundering charges against him dismissed.
This revelation sparked public outrage and raised significant concerns regarding the integrity of the EFCC.
The allegations gained traction after Bobrisky, who received a six-month prison sentence earlier this year for currency abuse, asserted that he was permitted to serve his sentence in a VIP facility, further intensifying suspicions of corruption within the agency.
In light of the increasing scrutiny, EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale announced that Olukoyede had mandated an immediate internal investigation into the claims. The EFCC has also summoned both Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan to its Lagos Directorate to assist with the inquiry.

Dress How You Want to be Addressed
A woman will dress like this and then spend the rest of the day/night trying to avoid getting her private parts revealed.
Why wear such a revealing dress in the first place if it makes you uncomfortable?
And what's even more funnier is accusing men of being pervets or worse, for looking at you dress (half dressed) like this. But the truth is men don't objectify women, they just give attention to women who are already objectifying themselves.
If you go public dressed like this, you've just objectified yourself, men just give you the validation you wanted. Men will always lust over naked or half naked women and you will have put yourself in that position for men to lust over your aesthetic displays.
And again there's nothing wrong with those said men to view you as a prostitute.
That logic comes from observation, for example if most prostitutes dress in that particular way, why shouldn't he assume you're one?
Dress how you want to be addressed

The 18-years old lawyer, Payam Derafshan, told the Center for Human Rights in Iran (CHRI) last week that Tabar is currently on a ventilator at Sina Hospital in Tehran after getting infected with the dreaded Covid-19 at the Shahr-e Rey prison.
She is now held in a quarantine section of the prison, Derafshan said, according to Tabar's mother.
"We find it unacceptable that this young woman has now caught the corona virus in these circumstances while her detention order has been extended during all this time in jail," said Derafshan.

"It makes no sense to deny this," he said. "The prison director should acknowledge the infection and admit she has been hospitalized".
The lawyer went on to say although he appealed for the judge in Tabar's case, Mohammed Moghiseh, to release her from prison, he is "unreachable" and could not be found at the court.
Last month, Iran temporarily released some 85,000 inmates, including political prisoners, in an attempt to reduce pressure on its prison facility as the country struggles to contain the spread of corona virus.
The death toll from Iran's Covid-19 outbreak has risen past 5,000, and there are more than 82,000 cases of infection in the country which has stood out to be Middle East's worst affected country.

Prostitution Has Become Worrisome In The Present Nigerian Society
The level at which our youths travel abroad within the past few year until present day is worrisome. This trend is more pronounced among young girls between ages 17 and 24 years.
The continuous rise makes one wonder what actually is attracting them to travel across the border. Is it in search of white-collar jobs or just to study abroad due to our messed-up educational system? But none of the above could be the reason why these young girls want to travel abroad.
A closer look into this rising problem opens ones eyes to a sad reality which gave birth to the following questions! Why are our young girls travelling abroad at an early age? What are these girls looking for in UAE, Malaysia, Thailand and some other countries? They are being recruited into prostitution in the 'red-light districts' of the big cities in these countries by their handlers whom they call "MADAM" or "BOSS".
But the disturbing part of this is that these girls are actually recruited willingly, and some with the knowledge of their parents. This is 21st century phenomenon unlike what it used to be in the 20th century, when girls were trafficked abroad with the promise of working in restaurants and hospitality industries but were actually taken into prostitution. Today's Nigerian prostitutes trafficked abroad are fully aware of what they are going over there to do.
But why is it no more a secret? Why are these so called "MADAMS" letting these girls know before they are trafficked? The truth is not far-fetched. These girls are already in the game of prostitution one way or the other back in Nigeria. You can see them in almost every metropolis and happening cities in Nigeria. Nowadays, you cannot differentiate between between a student and a prostitute because they also pose as students in school environments. They call themselves "RUNS GIRLS" and in social media they always have their motto as "SMALL GIRL WITH BIG GOD".
What is prostitution and why is it becoming the canker-worm eating deep into the fabric of our nation? According to definition: prostitution is the practice or occupation of engaging in sexual activity with someone for payment. Prostitution in Nigeria can be dated back to the pre-independence era when the good economic condition of Lagos attracted Nigerians from the rural hinterlands as a result of the seaport and being the capital city. In 1930s, prostitutes were called "ASHAWO" as they were linked with the notorious Jaguda and Boma boys. There were cases of forced prostitution and other vices, which led the government of the day to create the Unlicensed Guide (Prohibition) Ordinance and the Venereal Disease Ordinance in 1941 to curb it.
However, in the 20th century brothels started springing up in cities and street prostitution became popular in places like Ikeja in Lagos, Benin City in Edo etc. The 1980s was prevalent with the exportation of prostitution to Italy and other European countries by Nigerian girls of mostly Edo origin. Some of the strategies used by the traffickers were coercion, deceit and promise of huge income from working abroad.
Prostitution in Nigeria in this 21st century has taken a new shape and form. Unlike in the pre-independence and 20th century era. coercion is no more one of the popular strategies used by traffickers. Nowadays, they discuss with their victims and to some extent, also discuss with their victims parents before their journey. This is why it is frightening and would deal a great blow on any measure to curb it. The worst part of it is that majority of these girls are already "MASTERS" in the art of prostitution in Nigeria before moving abroad. They call themselves "RUNS GIRLS". You can find them mostly in Asian countries such as UAE, Malaysia where they can easily enter with a tourist or student visas.
Further probe into this issue led to interviews with most of these girls by our correspondent in Malaysia. For the sake of understanding, some of the interviews are reproduced here below with only their first names stated for privacy purpose.
Musky: Are you aware of your coming to Malaysia, and for what purpose?
Gloria: "Yes naw, my madam is a friend of my auntie. She called my auntie and discussed everything with her"
Musky: What exactly did they discuss?
Gloria: "The discussion be say make I come here come do runs naw...say I go make am for Malaysia pass Naija"
Musky: Was there any agreement between you and your so-called madam?
Gloria: "My madam brother carry me go one babalawo house for Ijebu-Ode. For there, the baba collect hair from my private part and one of my panties, he come say make I swear say I no go carry my madam money run"
The interview went on as to regarding the entire process before she embark on the journey.
Here is another excerpt from a victim known as Ella.
Musky: How did you end up here in Malaysia, were you aware of what you were coming to do?
Ella: "Yes of course, my madam is my friend from Nigeria. Na all of us been dey hustle together for Lagos before she come first me travel. She tell me say guys dey pay welwel here pass Naija. So I come tell am say make she find way for me na"
In one of the interviews, one of the girls said her real age was 17 before she traveled to Malaysia but her age had to be adjusted to 21 during the passport processing period, as she would be considered a minor to travel alone with her real age.
In all the interviews, one thing was prevalent, these girls were aware that they were traveling to prostitute.
Most of their parents or guardian were aware too. The question here is why is it so? Why is it no more like they were deceived by the promise of working in factories, restaurants or hospitality establishments? They know they are traveling to sell their bodies for money.
The continuous rise makes one wonder what actually is attracting them to travel across the border. Is it in search of white-collar jobs or just to study abroad due to our messed-up educational system? But none of the above could be the reason why these young girls want to travel abroad.

So I come tell am say make she find way for me na"In one of the interviews, one of the girls said her real age was 17 before she traveled to Malaysia but her age had to be adjusted to 21 during the passport processing period, as she would be considered a minor to travel alone with her real age.

Dancer Kaffy - Not All Smiley Faces Are Happy, Depression Is Real
![]() |
| Kafayat Shafau-Ameh (Dancer Kaffy) |
Nigerian dancer, Kafayat Shafau-Ameh, popularly known as Kaffydance, has advised Nigerians not to be under pressure when it comes to defining happiness.
Recounting her experience with depression via a post on Instagram on Thursday, Kaffy advised people not to be in a hurry else they would lose "the ammunition, the instruments" needed to "sustain the greatness and happiness you pursue".
Alongside a video of popular Instagram motivational speaker, Oyemyke where he spoke on focusing on "their hustle", Kaffy wrote: "Please DO NOT BE PRESSURED. A lot is a lie. A lot is a manifestation of what they want to be, A lot is from insecurities, A lot is from depression, Not all smiley faces are happy faces.
"Depression is real, too many lives lost. I faced depression, I battled it and I won. You can win.
First thing to do is not to let people define your happiness. We all have our races, our paths are different. First to do no mean last man standing ooh. If anyone runs past you, does better than you or has anything you want and don't have, just wave and say 'I will catch up, see ya later'.
"Your process is important, don't be in a hurry. If you do, you would lose the ammunition, the instruments you need to sustain the greatness and happiness you pursue."

Thank you for everything, I wish you eternal rest, you deserve it. You don try, you don't belong in this place. As you officially join the league of ancestors, please if you see Tafawa Balewa, tell him that his sons are carrying guns against Nigerian State.
Tell Yar'Adua that the amnesty he granted is now business for the privilege few, causing wahala everywhere. Please if you see Ojukwu, tell him that his brothers and sisters are expecting another program. Tell Awolowo that Nigeria is now more divided and preparing for another war. Tell Nnamdi Azikiwe that those things that made him cross the ocean 100 times seeking for peace are coming back.
Obviously you will not see Abacha, but if you see anyone that sees him, please tell him that Al'mustapha his main man is out of kirikiri prison, tell him that even Obasanjo came out of prison and became President. Please try to see Baba Fela, biko tell him that we are no longer suffering and smiling, we are suffering and dropping dead daily.
Tell MKO Abiola that another June 12 is looming and his kinsmen no longer speak with one voice. I know you will see my father, Justice Oputa, tell him am holding ground and that I miss him, tell him not to worry about me. But don't forget to remind him that justice can no longer be found in Nigeria, its's for the highest bidder.
Tell Gani Fawehimi Senior Advocate of the Masses, that corruption is now official, tell him that even prosecution and conviction of Politicians who are looting the country dry is selective. Tell him that Mike Ezekome now defends known treasury looters...kai.
Please don't fail to tell Chinue Achebe not to be disappointed in Nigeria, it's just that since he left to join the league of ancestors, THINGS FALL APART, Nigeria is NO LONGER AT EASE and the ARROW OF GOD is now pointing seriously at Nigeria because of THE TROUBLE IN NIGERIA, even though we've had MAN OF THE PEOPLE like you, but when we cast our minds back to the good old days, indeed we remember THERE WAS A COUNTRY.

Beloved brethren, we are gathered here today before God and His congregation to join Ese and Christian in Matrimony.
He further said MARRIAGE is an honorable institution ordained by God Himself before the fall of man and it symbolizes the union between Christ and the Church. That Christ sanctions marriage is evidenced by the fact that He honored an invitation to a wedding in Cana Galilee and He performed His first miracle there.
Also, Apostle Paul pointed out that marriage is honorable among men.

The minister further gave some important reasons for Marriage as he explains.
Firstly, marriage is for mutual fellowship, companionship, help and comfort which husband and wife ought to have for each other in all circumstances of life.
Secondly, marriage is to check the sinful life of fornication and adultery so that those not gifted to be continent can marry and thus keep themselves holy as the body of Christ.
Thirdly, marriage is ordained for the purpose of procreating and raising of children to fear the Lord, abide with the teaching of His words and glorify His Holy name.
These agreements, these two sister Ese and brother Christian have reached and are to be joined together.

The minister further guide them through the marriage vows saying, now both of you do realize that those joined contrary to the will of God are not acceptably joined together in the sight of the Almighty.
Therefore, do any of you have any reason why you should not be joined in Matrimony?
Both the groom and bride answered saying, no I don't. Hence there is no reason by either of them, the marriage vow follows.
The groom holding the right hand of the bride, the man pledges thus: (Saying after the minister).
I, Christian, accept you Ese as my wife today, to have and to hold, for better and for worse. I will love in plenty and in poverty, in health and in sickness, I will love you and nurse you according to the will of God, till death do us path, for this I give you my troth.
The bride holding the right hand of the groom, the woman pledges thus: (Saying after the minster). I, Ese, accept you Christian as my husband today, to have and to hold, for better and for worse. The minister shall then lay hands on the new couples and say:
"For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife and the two shall be one flesh. So then, they are no longer two but one flesh, what therefore, God hath joined together, let no man put asunder."
As Christian and Ese have agreed to be joined in Matrimony even as they confessed before God and man and backed it up with the giving and receiving of rings as an everlasting testament, I say they should live together as husband and wife as from today in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit...Amen.
Just immediately the couples pronounced husband and wife by the officiating minister, they proceed to signing the marriage register as the ceremony come to a close with a closing prayer just as opening prayers were made at the start.
