As they Prepare for WAFCON, Nigeria's Super Falcons Fly Past Ghana.

Nigeria achieved a decisive 3-1 victory against their rivals Ghana in their most recent friendly match prior to the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The Super Falcons quickly established a three-goal advantage before Ghana managed to score one. It took 34 minutes for Nigeria to take the lead as Chinwendu Ihezuo scored for her team. Ten minutes later, Asisat Oshoala from Bay FC increased the score for the West Africans. At the beginning of the second half, Nigeria added their third goal of the match, thanks to captain Rasheedat Ajibade. This goal effectively sealed the match, although with just two minutes remaining in regular time, the Black Queens managed to score a consolation goal. Sunday’s match, held in Morocco, marked the Super Falcons’ final warm-up game ahead of the WAFCON. Last Monday, the Nigerian team played to a goalless draw against the European side Portugal. Nigeria is placed in Group B of the tournament, alongside Tunisia, Botswana, and Algeria. They are set to face Tunisia in their opening match on Sunday. The Super Falcons have claimed the WAFCON title a record nine times and are aiming for their 10th championship when the tournament commences on July 5, 2025.
