Finnish-Nigerian separatist agitator, Simon Ekpa and four other individuals have been arrested in Finland over terror-related activities.

A local report from Finland indicated that Ekpa, who has proclaimed himself the Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government In-Exile, has been placed in custody by the Päijät-Häme district court on allegations of public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent. In a statement released on Thursday via its website, the Central Criminal Police of Finland announced the arrest of five individuals on suspicions related to terrorist activities. The authorities noted that the primary suspect was detained “on suspicion of public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent,” while the other four individuals were apprehended “for financing a terrorist crime.” The police further stated: “Claims will be presented in the Päijät-Häme district court today, November 21.” The statement elaborated, “The requests for detention are connected to a preliminary investigation involving a Finnish citizen of Nigerian descent, born in the 1980s, who is suspected of public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent. “The authorities believe that this individual has advanced his agenda from Finland through means that have incited violence against civilians and officials, as well as other offenses in the South-Eastern region of Nigeria.” The statement included remarks from Crime Commissioner Otto Hiltunen of the Central Crime Police, who noted that “the individual has engaged in this conduct, among other methods, through his social media platforms.” “Additionally, four other individuals are suspected of financing the aforementioned activities. All five suspects were arrested earlier in the week. “International collaboration has been undertaken during the preliminary investigation,” the statement concluded.

In a letter presented during the plenaries of both the Senate and the House of Representatives on Tuesday, President Tinubu articulated that the loan is a crucial component of his administration's fiscal strategy for the upcoming year. Senate President Godswill Akpabio, while reading the letter, noted, “The Presidential request for $2.2 billion, which is equivalent to ₦1.77 trillion, is already included in the external borrowing plan for the 2024 fiscal year.” He also instructed the Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts to accelerate its assessment of the request and to provide a report within a 24-hour timeframe. Akpabio stressed, “The Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Loans should, therefore, give the request expeditious consideration and report back within 24 hours.” Despite the deadline passing on Wednesday, the committee delivered its findings during Thursday’s plenary, resulting in the approval of the loan.

This remark followed Pastor Enenche's comments on the importance of tithing. The NYFPA condemned Omokri’s statements as “inflammatory, unfounded, and highly irresponsible,” asserting that such remarks are unbecoming of an individual who positions himself as a political activist and public commentator. In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Samuel Geofrey, the organization stated, “Reno Omokri’s comments are an affront to millions of Nigerians who hold their faith and spiritual leaders in high regard. Two Employees are Fired by the EFCC for Alleged Corruption.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has terminated the employment of two staff members due to allegations of corruption. According to news reports, the Commission’s Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, made this announcement during the opening of the 6th Annual Criminal Law Review Conference, which was organized by the Rule of Law Development Foundation in Abuja. Olukoyede indicated that the dismissals took place two weeks ago and stressed that any employees found to have breached the law will not only be dismissed but will also face legal action in the future. “There are numerous reforms underway, particularly concerning our personnel and related matters. “Just two weeks ago, I initiated the dismissal of two employees. One cannot combat corruption while being complicit. Those who seek justice must ensure their own hands are clean. “I will not only dismiss these individuals but will also pursue prosecution, as we do with others. “You will observe that we are in the process of preparing case files for some of those we have dismissed,” he remarked. The EFCC Chairman noted that he had undergone a two-year investigation during his time as the EFCC secretary, highlighting the importance of integrity for survival, especially among legal practitioners. He also pointed out that he has issued a standing order that no prosecution should involve more than a 15-count charge.
