A Nigerian Born Canadian Professor, Pius Adesanmi among the passengers who loss their lives on the crashed Ethiopian Airline Flight.

The aircraft, Boeing 737 Max-8 carrying 149 passengers and 8 crew members, lost contact with air traffic controllers 6 minutes after taking off. It crashed near Bishoftu, southeast of Addis Ababa as said in a statement released by Ethiopian Airlines.

The airlines said there were 32 Kenyans, 18 Canadians, 8 Americans and Seven British nationals among the passengers.

Adesanmi flew on a Canadian passport. He posed with the passport in the last picture he posted on Facebook and wrote: ''If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me - Psalm 139:9-10''.

Mr. Pius Adesanmi was a celebrated author who despite residing abroad in Canada kept in touch with his Nigerian audience fervently back home. Friends and well-wishes have since taken to social media to mourn the late scholar.

Following this recent deadly incident, China has just announce the grounding of all its Boeing 737 Max-8 planes.

One Mr. Charles Imuzeze said: it's too early to speculate! All we know for now is that the B737 Max is a brand new aircraft. It's faster, more economical and lighter. Although last year, a B737 Max belonging to Lion Air in Indonesia went down the same way, just 6 minutes into flight. For now, it's up to Boeing to ground all B737 Max aircrafts till the FAA NTSB comes up with what might have gone wrong.

American Airlines (AA) grounded their fleet after the Lion Air crash October 2018. I can only wonder why other airlines didn't follow suit.

BREAKING NEWS - Sadly, Ethiopian Airlines Plane Crashes On Way To Nairobi Kenya

An Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 on a routine flight to Nairobi, Kenya crashed with 149 passengers and 8 crew members on board the flight.

It was not clear whether there were any survivors in the crash occurred in the early hours of Sunday.

A message of condolence by the office of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed suggested that there were some deaths.

''The Office of the PM, on behalf of the Government and people of Ethiopia, would like to express its deepest condolences to the families of those that have lost their loved ones on Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 on regular scheduled flight to Nairobi, Kenya this morning'', the message on government's Twitter handle read: An Ethiopian Airlines spokesman said the crash occurred at 8:44am local time, 6 minutes after the flight took off from the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.

The airline said that there were 33 different nationalities on board the flight. It is not yet clear what caused the accident.

In an earlier statement, the airline said that search and rescue operations were under way near the crash site around the town of Bishoftu, which is 60km (37 miles) south-east of the capital.

''Ethiopian Airlines staff will be sent to the accident scene and will do everything possible to assist the emergency services,'' according to the statement.

Boeing, the company that built the aeroplane, said in a tweet that it was ''closely monitoring the situation''.

Its 737 Max-8 aircraft is relatively new to the skies, having been launched in 2016. It was added to the Ethiopian Airlines fleet in July last year.

Another plane of the same model was involved in a crash five months ago, when a Lion Air flight crashed into the sea near Indonesia with nearly 190 people on board unaccounted for.

Ethiopian Airlines flies to many destinations in Africa, making it a popular carrier in a continent where many airlines fly only from their home country to destinations outside Africa.

It has a good reputation for safety, although in 2010 one of the company's aeroplanes crashed in the Mediterranean Sea shortly after leaving Beirut. The incident killed 90 people on board.

The airlines highest fatalities prior to this came in a November 1996 crash during a hijacking on a flight from Addis Ababa to Nairobi.

One of the aeroplane's engines stopped when the fuel ran out and although pilots attempted an emergency water landing, they hit a coral reef in the Indian Ocean and 123 of the 175 people on board were killed.

4) Rwanda has the youngest group of Ministers in Africa. In Rwanda, there's a 50-50 gender equal in it's 26 Cabinet Ministers, which encompasses 13 men and 13 women respectively.

How Super Eagles Female Fans Supporters Were Caged Into Prostitution After Russia 2018

''I cried really hard, but what choice did I have?'' were the words from a 19 year old Blessing Obuson, a Nigerian 'Super Eagles fan', forced into prostitution in Russia.

Another 21 year old girl said this: ''They don't give you food for days, they slap you, they beat you up, they spit in your face, it's just like a cage.''

In roughly three months, it will make it one full year thousands of fans flew across countries to cheer the Super Eagles as they participated in the World Cup which took place in June 2018 in Russia.

However, contrary to expectations, not only are thousands of supposed Super Eagles fans missing, it turned out some members of the Nigerian fan base were sold into prostitution. One of such victims is 19 year old Obuson, who went to Russia in the hope of finding a job.

According to a report by Reuters, Obuson had nursed dreams of working as a shop assistant to help with her two-year-old daughter and younger siblings resident in Edo State, but she ended up locked up in an apartment in the outskirts of Moscow and forced into becoming a sex slave alongside 11 other Nigerian females.

They were under the strict supervision of a madam, also a Nigerian, who confiscated the passport of the victims and forced them to work to pay off certain debts. In Obuson's case, she had to work to pay off a debt of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000).

Little hope, however, came to the way of Obuson and other victims when she told her story to a client, who spoke English and involved anti-slavery activists, leading to a raid on the apartment,

According to the case, which is still under investigation, a police officer had posed as an interested client willing to buy off Obuson for 2 million rubbles, that's around thirty thousand dollars ($30,000), which led to the arrest of two Nigerians.

Eight other Nigerian women, between the ages of 16 and 22, also told Reuters how they were victims of violence and also came into the country as Super Eagles fans. The fan identity cards grant them access to the country without necessarily needing visas.

According to the Police in Russia, 1,863 Nigerians had not left the country as of January 1, 2019, six months after they came into the country for the World Cup, and at the time the IDs expired.

In September 2018, 22 years old Alifat Momoh was said to be the victim of murder by a man who refused to pay for sex.

Kenny Kehindo, an anti-slavery activist who works with non governmental organizations in Moscow, puts the figure of women who came into the country as fans at more than 2,000.

EAST AFRICA - 65 Witchdoctors Arrested In Tanzania Over Killings Of Children And Innocent Citizens

The police in Tanzania have arrested 65 ''witchdoctors'', or traditional healers, in the connection in connection with the ritual killing of at least 10 children within a short period of time.

The children were killed in January and many had body parts taken off or removed.

There is a belief among some people in the East African country of Tanzania and it's neighboring countries, that using human body parts in rituals can bring wealth and good luck.

The inspector general of police, Simon Sirro, has ordered that every traditional healer must obtain a license.

''We have also requested other institutions like religious leaders and politicians to help us,'' he included.

Ten (10) children were murdered in the south-wester Njombe region and an unknown number in the northern Simuyu region.

One of the children, Goodluck Mfugale, was just five years old when he was killed. His parents told BBC their son had been robbed of his future. There is a particular belief that the body parts of people with albinism are especially potent in the rituals, leading to many killings.

However, it is not clear if any of the 10 children known to have been killed had albinism. Albinism is particularly prevalent in Tanzania with one in 1,400 affected, according to a 2006 BMC Public Health report. This compares with one in 20.000 in Western countries.

Activists on the continent say poverty contributes to the suspicion surrounding albinos and the belief their body parts can be sold for large sums of money.
